Are You Football Season Ready?

Get ready for the football season with these top tips from Premier League Coach’s

With summer coming to an end we face another exciting football season. What are you going to do to make sure you’re the best player on the pitch this season?

Even though you will start Pre-Season with your team, you can always work on your own quality.

“Get the ball and be confident. If you don’t try something you’ll never know if it works, and if you don’t practice it, you’ll never be able to make it work! Nothings impossible when you believe you can do it!”
– Coach Sean

Here are the main areas to work on to be ready for the new season:

Fitness/Speed

Ever wondered how to gain an extra edge on your opponent? With the right amount of practice, you can improve your speed and fitness and outrun your opposition with and without the ball.
To improve your fitness take advantage of interval training in the local park and mix up your workouts with speed shuttles, endurance runs and long sprints.

Once your fitness is improving you can start to improve your speed with the ball.

Here’s some key point to keep ahead of your opponents: keep your feet moving and pumped ready for the ball, use explosive touches, use big touches on your turns and a big quality finish on your final touch.

The more you practice the sharper and quicker you will get.

Footwork

Improve your footwork and get quick feet without using ladders! Head Coach Saul shows you how to get quick feet for soccer in for a technical challenge. Check it out the here: QUICK FEET FOR SOCCER

This is a function practice, really easy to set up and is broken down into four steps

Remember to think about: Quality Touches, Intensity, Lateral Movements, Explosiveness and a Quality finish.

To play football players must understand their roles and responsibilities in their position within a team structure. Football is played in the mind before it is played with your feet. My advice to anyone playing the game is to learn the ins and outs of the sport.
Where you do things? How you do things and when you do things? Lastly Why you do things?

Simple and intelligent football are two things that separate good player and great players!

Power

Learn how to get more power on your shots and score more goals. You should always practice with the ball moving and make sure you frame the goal by picturing where you want the ball and then keep your eye on the ball.

To get maximum power your non-kicking foot should land by the ball when you shoot. Finally, practice keeping your head and shoulders over the ball when you shoot and make sure you get a good connection with your laces and the ball. Train along from home with Saul’s Top Tips: GET MORE POWER ON YOUR SHOTS

Confidence

The Coaches at PDA are all about working with players to help improve their skills but also to boost players confidence. If something doesn’t go the way you expected, you learn from it and get better. The best way to improve your confidence is to practice, practice, practice.

Perform with confidence in what you do, have faith in what you’re doing, don’t be afraid to try things, that’s how you learn and finally, enjoy it and have fun!
– Coach Sam
